Provocative Quote

I woke up this morning and saw this quote from Tim Elmore on Twitter:

I would love to have a larger conversation about this with teachers, administrators, and schools. One question I have is "What is the real world?" How do we define this in a rapidly changing society, and how do we best prepare our students for this world?

My take on this is that we work with our students to build a culture of inquiry and curiosity about the world that will serve them well no matter what the future brings.

What are your thoughts on this quote? Let's build a larger conversation first about whether this quote is accurate for you and your school, and second, if it is accurate, then how to we best prepare students for THEIR futures.

  1. I think that Tim hits it on the head for the wide view of general education today. There are a few who are working to change this to your thoughts and ideas, but they face an uphill battle. I agree that this needs to be an opening point of discussion! (Perhaps a #LuthEd chat on this? Give it some thought.)

  2. I think it could be good for a #LuthEd chat, but I think a focus of that chat is not just the quote itself but how to bring this understanding to a larger audience within our schools and system.
