Be a Digital Citizen: Connected to Faith

Below is a short video I found recently on the topic of digital citizenship:

While I appreciate the message of the video, there is something missing in this approach to digital citizenship. What is missing is the faith element -- the fact that Christians seek to use technology responsibly as a response to what Christ has done for us and to be a witness to the One who has saved us in all we do.

Digital citizenship, as taught in Lutheran schools, should be so much more than identifying safe and ethical uses of digital tools. It should be a about living online in a way that points to our Savior. Let's work together to help our students understand that essential difference!

  1. Thank you for this! We are going into a Digital Citizenship unit in our Freshman Focus classes soon and I appreciate the focus on the faith element. Any specific resources for teaching it this way?

I really enjoy the blog - thanks for all that you share!

    1. A number of us started working on a digital citizenship curriculum for Lutheran schools that emphasized the faith element, but that project got sidetracked. I can go back into that content and see if there are some good resources to share, and then let you know what I find.
